A conceptual photographer, Diwan served as the Director of Triennale India, organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi from 2014-15 , National Academy of Art, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Currently, he is the President of Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi. Recipient of the National Award by the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, Manna is one of the first artists from India to practice conceptual photography. His work revolves around socio-cultural and socio-political concerns and combines images with objects to create multimedia reality.
